What is the Motability Scheme?

The Motability Car Scheme provides a unique leasing package designed for the benefit of disabled people. For over 35 years the Motability Car Scheme has helped more than three million get mobile by exchanging their mobility allowance to lease a new car. There are currently around 630,000 customers enjoying the benefits of the Motability Scheme.

Through the contract hire scheme you can lease a new car every three years including a 60,000 mile allowance, insurance for two drivers, all servicing, maintenance, windscreen and tyre replacement costs built in, accident and breakdown cover, many adaptations at no extra cost, and the ability to nominate up to two drivers.

Eligibility.

If you receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA); the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP); the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) and you have at least 12 months remaining on your award, you may be eligible to join the Motability Scheme. Adaptations.

BMW have your motoring experience at the heart of everything they do. On almost all BMW vehicles you will find features that will make driving and travelling easier and more comfortable, such as automatic transmission, push button ignition and height adjustable seating position.

However, BMW understands that you may require adaptations to make your BMW safer and more suited to your needs. Many of the most popular adaptations are now available at no extra cost at the start of your contract hire lease. Some adaptations will require an extra cost in addition to your Advance Payment. The Motability Managed Adaptations Programme is always there to oversee the adaptations process and ensure all work is carried out by an approved installer.

Who are Motability and Motability Operations?

Motability is a national charity set up at the initiative of the Government, with all party support in 1977 and is responsible for oversight and Scheme policy.

Motability Operations Ltd is a privately owned company that operates the Motability Scheme under contract to Motability.

Am I eligible for the Motability Scheme?

To be eligible to lease through the Motability Car Scheme, you must be in receipt of one of the following allowances:

Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance * Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) * War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) * Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). You will need to have at least 12 months remaining on your allowance when you place an order.
